The Wilhelm Loh KG Optikmaschinen factory was a manufacturer and supplier of optical instruments, based in Wetzlar . The company was founded in 1922 and merged with Satisloh GmbH in 2005 .

Wilhelm Loh (born December 30, 1898 in Reiskirchen ; † February 21, 1971) founded an optical-mechanical workshop in 1922 in Wetzlar's Liebfrauenberg as a manufacturer and supplier of optical instruments. Over the years the company grew and it became necessary to move. In the 1950s the company moved to Friedenstraße 26. All departments found enough space here to advance optical machine construction . The area was big enough, also for future extensions. At the beginning of the 1960s, Ernst Loh, after completing his degree in mechanical engineering, took over the company from his father and expanded it considerably. The company rose to become the world market leader as Wilhelm Loh KG Optikmaschinenfabrik Wetzlar.

After founding a subsidiary in Switzerland, the company was named Loh Optikmaschinen AG, Wetzlar. Machines for the production of spectacle lenses and fine optical lenses, as well as auxiliary and operating materials, were developed, manufactured and sold worldwide. The main production site of Loh Optikmaschinen AG is in Wetzlar, the holding company and a second production site are in Switzerland. Loh Optikmaschinen AG has subsidiaries in the USA, Hong Kong, India, France and Spain. With 270 employees in Wetzlar, the company, which was founded in 1922, achieved sales of EUR 47 million in 2002. The company is divided into three business areas: The “Spectacle Optics” business area produces CNC machines, software and system solutions for surface and edge processing of eyeglass lenses, i.e. for grinding and polishing with the highest surface quality. The customers are well-known lens manufacturers and prescription grinding companies. The "Precision Optics" division produces a wide variety of CNC machines, software and system solutions for surface and edge processing of spherical, aspherical lenses and planar optics components. The "Optics Service" offers process consulting, auxiliary and operating materials, spare parts and services for all things Loh products.

Further expansions made it necessary to move again. Satisloh GmbH, based in Wetzlar , emerged from the merger with the Swiss company Satis . In the meantime the ownership structure has changed several times, the name Satisloh has remained.
