William Boosey
William Boosey (* 1864 ; † 1933 ) was an English music organizer and publisher.
Boosey first worked in the music publisher founded by his great-great-grandfather John Boosey in the 18th century (from 1930 Boosey & Hawkes ). In 1892 he changed to the Chappell & Co publishing house as managing director . Here he took over the London Ballad Concerts established by his father in St James's Hall in 1867 and continued them as Chappell Ballad Concerts , at which mostly popular soulful royalty ballads from the publishing program were performed. Singers such as Edward Lloyd , Sims Reeves and Hubert Eisdell appeared. As a publisher, he campaigned for the modernization of copyright law and the establishment of the Performing Right Society . Boosey is the author of the 1931 book Fifty Years of Music .
