William J. Sutherland

William James Sutherland (* 1956 ) is a conservation biologist and professor of zoology at the University of Cambridge .

Research priorities

Sutherland is concerned with distribution and habitat models of animals that relate to behavioral aspects. Particularly applied questions of nature conservation in connection with birds occupy him in his research. He holds the Miriam Rothschild Chair for the Protection of Biodiversity.

Sutherland is on the editorial team of the ESA magazine Conservation Letters and is involved in the initiative for the open access publication Conservation Evidence .
