William Rowley (playwright)

William Rowley (b.1585; buried February 11, 1626 ) was an English playwright in the reign of James I.

Very little is known about Rowley's life. Before 1610 he worked as an actor in the troupe of Queen Anne ( Queen Anne's Men ). In the 1620s he made an appearance with The Play at Midnight at the Globe Theater .

William Rowley often collaborated with other writers. He is known to collaborate with Thomas Heywood , Thomas Middleton , John Fletcher , John Ford , Thomas Dekker and John Webster .
