The Windhoek prison ( english Windhoek Correctional Facility ), formerly the Windhoek Central Prison (English Windhoek Central Prison ), since 1963 the main prison of the Namibian capital Windhoek .
The institution has 900 prison places. It is the largest of the 13 prisons in the country and (as of November 2017) accommodates around 1,300 prisoners . Thus, around a third of all 4,041 prisoners in the country (as of October 2017) are in the Windhoek correctional facility.
Like all correctional facilities in the country, the prison is administered by the Namibia Correctional Services of the Ministry of Security .
