Windows Anytime Upgrade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Windows Anytime Upgrade was a Microsoft business model for selling Windows Vista and Windows 7 over the Internet . The users receive an identical installation DVD for all editions and install the appropriate edition after entering their license key. Different data carriers are only required for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Microsoft and its users have the advantage of not having to produce or have a different DVD ready for each edition.

In the meantime (as of 2016) Anytime Upgrade can no longer be used under Windows Vista and Windows 7.
