Winter humid subtropics

  • Winter humid subtropics
  • The zone of the winter humid subtropics is one of the nine global eco-zones according to J. Schultz. Today it occupies around 1.7% of the earth's land surface. At the beginning of the 21st century, around 7% of these are largely in a near-natural state .

It lies in the part of the subtropical climate zone known as the " Mediterranean climate " . After the prevailing vegetation, the landscape types of the hard- leaf vegetation are characteristic.

The boundaries of the winter humid subtropics are in reality fluid, so that an exact extent - as shown on the map - cannot actually be determined. This fact becomes understandable if one uses comparable geozonal models , some of which show significant deviations. See for example the comparable Mediterranean zonobiom on the map of the zonobiome according to Walter and Breckle or the FAO Ecozones .
