Wireless Session Protocol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wireless Session Protocol (WSP) is part of the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and is used to establish a session between the end device and the WAP gateway. The gateway translates the terminal-specific request into an HTTP request and sends this to the WWW server. In addition to the normal HTML page, the web server can provide a website in Wireless Markup Language (WML) for mobile devices . WSP offers the user a connection-oriented and a connectionless service. The connection-oriented service, WTP (Wireless Transaction Protocol), provides the requesting party with a confirmation after the request, whereas the connectionless service, the WDP (Wireless Datagram Protocol), does not.
