from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to a new regulation by the German Post Office of the GDR on January 1, 1967, only citizens and freelance workers were allowed to send their parcels as parcels of 70 pfennigs (in local traffic even only 40 pfennigs); all other senders, especially companies, had to send parcels as business parcels . These initially cost 80 Pfg. From January 1, 1986, 1.80 Marks had to be paid. Express mail , airmail (canceled on May 1, 1975), registered mail , personal delivery, return receipt and cash on delivery were all permitted as additional services .

This differentiation no longer existed on July 1, 1990, from that point onwards all packages cost DM 3.50.
