The association has a tradition going back more than 100 years: on September 12, 1906, the “Association of Bavarian Teachers for Commercial Science at Technical Teaching Institutes” was founded as the predecessor organization of the wpv. After the association had to dissolve during National Socialism in 1936, it was re-established in 1952 as the Association of Bavarian Teachers for Economics and Geography. In 1961 the name Association of Bayerischer Wirtschaftsphilologen eV was adopted.
