Wisconsin Supreme Court

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is the highest court in the state of Wisconsin . He is responsible for appeals against decisions of all courts of the state of Wisconsin, insofar as they concern the law of Wisconsin. The Court of Justice may also accept cases in the first instance at its own discretion. In addition to its judicial duties, the court is the regulatory authority for all courts in the state.

The court has 7 judges and is located in the Wisconsin State Capitol . The judges are elected for a ten-year term, whereby no more than one judge of the court may stand for election per year. If a judge is absent during his tenure, the governor appoints a replacement. Since May 1, 2015, the judge Patience Drake Roggensack has been Chief Justice (President of the Court).
