The Scientific Services of the European Parliament ( EPRS , en: European Parliamentary Research Service ), founded on 1 November 2013 as a General of the European Commission (DG / DG), offers members of the European Parliament, its parliamentary committees and the European Parliament, Institution comprehensive research and analysis support. EPRS is designed to provide independent, objective and authoritative information, as well as comprehensive research and analysis services. Today DG EPRS is organized in four directorates:

Members' Research Service - This service aims to ensure that all Members of the European Parliament receive analysis and research results on political issues related to the European Union in order to assist them in their parliamentary work.

Impact assessment and European added value - These services are designed to help identify the need for action at European level and to review and monitor EU legislation in practice. They are supported by research and analysis capacities in all policy areas, whereby external experts can be called in. The services include: Ex-Ante Impact Assessment, European Added Value, Ex-Post Impact Assessment, Policy Performance Assessment, European Council Monitoring Unit and Scientific Foresight (STOA).

Library and Knowledge Services - The library offers on-site and online services, access to internal and external publications on European and national topics, and online access to news and information services. It also offers certain public services in the form of the Historical Archives of the European Parliament and the “Ask EP” service.

Resources - This latest service aims to ensure optimal funding for DG EPRS priorities.
