WoWWiki is a large English-language wiki that deals with topics related to the Warcraft universe, especially the MMORPG World of Warcraft . It was named among other things "best-known MMO wiki" ("best-known MMO wiki"), and "the mother of all WoW informational sources" ("the mother of all WoW informational sources"). The WoWWiki runs under MediaWiki and is a member of the Wikia network.

development

WoWWiki.com was founded on November 24th, 2004 as a source of information regarding World of Warcraft and its UI modifications. Since then, the wiki has expanded so that it now covers the entire Warcraft universe, including real-time strategy games , novels, mangas, pen & paper versions and all other offshoots .

In May 2007 it was announced that WoWWiki would join the Wikia network. In September 2009 the WoWWiki was the largest wiki in the network, but that changed in its favor after the LyricWiki was connected .

In addition, thanks to an add-on , World of Warcraft players can access the site while playing.

Wowpedia

Due to incompatible problems between WoWWiki and the Wikia network, the WoWWiki administration planned to leave the Wikia network at the end of October 2010. Due to the “policy” of the Wikia network, however, it is impossible for the administration to remove the page again, which is why they created a copy under the new name Wowpedia, which the WoWWiki has now overtaken in terms of number of articles. The server for the copy is provided by the online provider Curse, Inc.
