Resident doctor

Under resident doctor is anyone in Austria doctors who are neither employed by an employer yet settled are.

The term is defined in Section 47 of the Doctors Act :

"Doctors authorized to practice their profession independently who only intend to carry out those recurring medical activities that neither require an ordination facility nor are employed."

The following work profiles are counted among the resident doctors:

Doctors with ordination or employment are in principle entitled to carry out these activities. Doctors who have completed their training as general practitioners or specialists , but who neither want to open a practice (as their own professional seat ) nor enter into an employment relationship , must register specifically as a resident doctor in order to practice their profession . Registration takes place via the Austrian Medical Association ( via the State Medical Association of the place of residence).
