Wokingham is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county of Berkshire . The constituency was created in its current form in 1950 and covers much of Wokingham . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency existed between 1885 and 1918. In 1950 it was created again from the former constituencies of Newbury and Windsor and has been represented by members of the Conservative Party since the 1950 general election. At that time, Peter Remnant won the seat and served until 1959. In the general election in 1959 , William van Straubenzee won in Wokingham. Since the general election in 1987 , John Redwood has represented Wokingham in the House of Commons.

In April 2013, the constituency had an unemployment rate of just 1.2%. This value was significantly lower than the national average of 3.8%.
