Wolfgang Heinker

Wolfgang Heinker is a former German national basketball player . He became German champions as a player and coach.

career

In 1948, one year when a basketball department was founded at the Turnerbund Heidelberg, Heinker became German champions as a player with the TBH. 1951 and 1952 this triumph was repeated, with Heinker acting as player-coach in the 1951/52 season. In the same year he also led the women’s team of the Turnerbund to the German championship.

In 1951 Heinker took part as a player with the German national team at the European Championship in Paris and was the best German scorer at this tournament with a point average of 9.8. In 1953 he took part in the European Championship in Moscow as part of an all-German team .

At the end of the 1950s, he led the women of TV 46 Heidelberg as a coach several times to win the German championship. He later coached the women of Heidelberger SC, who won the title in 1973 under his direction. He was also the national coach of the German women's national team.

He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on April 15, 1951 for his athletic achievements.
