The World Agroforestry Center is an internationally active research institution that aims to combat poverty and protect the environment through research into agroforestry . It was founded in 1978 as the International Council for Research in Agroforestry ( ICRAF ) and is one of the 15 international research institutes of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research .

The head office is in Nairobi , further locations are in India , Indonesia , Malawi and Mali .
