action

17-year-old Maria Ramirez has come into conflict with the law and has been sentenced to prison. After her release, Maria returns to her neighborhood in the Bronx clean and decides to change her life fundamentally. The youngster wants to use her talent for street dance , as Honey did. Her mother Connie takes her in and she helps in their dance studio.

On a party night, she rediscovers her love for life, which she had thought lost. She attracts Brandon's attention, who works in the dance studio and is studying dance and business in college . Brandon asks Maria to join his crew. She does this to win a big dance competition in order to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend Luis. After some difficulties within the crew now called "HD" and disputes with Luis' crew, they can actually win the competition.

criticism

“Honey 2” is simply overloaded: the director installs twists where none are necessary, while bombarding his audience with dance sequences en masse and various musical styles - here less would actually have been more. Genre fans will still enjoy "Honey 2" - not least because of the strong dance performance, especially by the main actress Katerina Graham, and the video clip-heavy, kinetic staging that impressively captures the dance floor. "

- Maren Koetsier : filmstarts.de

“The continuation of this little profound ingratiation to the young target audience now has no heart at all, neither for the story nor for the characters. These have to prevail against the competition at the local street dance battle, which is typical of the genre and quite cheekily copied from Step Up 3D or StreetDance 3D . So you steal from the imitators of your own predecessor, who at least were able to counter their flat stories with three-dimensional abdominal muscles and elaborate choreographies. "
