World Karate and Kickboxing Commission

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Karate and Kickboxing Commission (WKC) has been one of the largest amateur kickboxing associations since 2009 . The WKC is headquartered in Ontario / Canada and is led by the multiple world champions Michael Bernado (Canada) and Richard Plowden (USA). Richard Plowden has been one of the most successful pointfighting coaches in the USA for years and was himself multiple world champion in the WAKO and WKA associations of his time.

history

The WKC was formed after the various political changes in the WKA in 2007 and was headed from the beginning by the two very well-known, experienced martial artists. Already at the first World Championships in Spain in 2009 over 1300 participants were counted. Robbie Lavoie (Canada) Ross Levine (USA) Jadi Tention (USA) Tom Roberts (Canada) or Lisa Ann-Gore (England) - all multiple world champions in the major associations and members of the real Martial - are among the strongest and best-known athletes of the association Arts "Hall of Fame" as well as winners of the biggest tournaments in the world, the US Open and the Irish Open. There were German world champions at the WKC 2013 with Rebecca Knapp in Italy in the form and Nikolai Dumke in 2016 in Ireland in point fighting.

The WKC has specialized exclusively in the tatami disciplines of kickboxing, i.e. light contact , forms and pointfighting . The WKC is already a leader in pointfighting and the form competitions; at the last World Cup in 2016 in Dublin / Ireland, the association counted over 1,600 individual starts. In addition to the world championships, the association organizes several major international tournaments on all continents and works together with reputable sports organizers worldwide.

The WKC has the best age and weight classes worldwide and has received many awards here. The children's and youth area in particular has been optimized again since 2013, so that there is a global standard here that has already been adopted by other associations. The WKC is also a purely amateur association and has also been registered in Germany as a non-profit organization since 2013. In Germany alone, there is evidence that 25% of the total income goes to youth development. From November 2013 to March 2018, the two-time world champion Tobias Horn headed the WKC in Germany as president, who was also responsible for the successful KWON junior team 2018 and won numerous titles and placements at international WAKO World Cups. The team's coaches were Ralf Kleff and Pierre Polini.
