X / Open XA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

X / Open XA (short XA derived from eXtended Architecture ) is one of the Open Group specified computer science - standard for distributed transaction processing , the processing of multiple systems distributed transactions . With the help of the XA standard, different resources (such as databases, application servers, messaging systems) can be addressed within a transaction , while preserving the ACID properties of transactions.

The open group document Distributed Transaction Processing: The XA Specification describes what a resource manager has to do to enable transactions to be distributed according to XA. This defines the procedure and the interface between the global transaction manager and the local resource managers. Resource managers who meet the standard are called "XA compliant". The XA standard is based on the two-phase commit protocol .
