The XDAX (also X-DAX ) is a German share index that has been published by Deutsche Börse AG since April 10, 2006 . Its composition corresponds to the German share index (DAX) , but unlike the latter, it is not based on real prices from the Xetra electronic trading system , but on derivatives , the prices of which are also available outside of regular trading hours.

While the DAX is calculated every trading day from 9:06 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CET / CEST , the XDAX shows the hypothetical development of the DAX outside of Xetra trading hours. It is calculated before the trading session from 8:00 a.m. to 9:06 a.m. and after the trading day from 5:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. The basis for the calculation are the prices of the DAX futures traded on the Frankfurt derivatives exchange Eurex with the shortest remaining term and European money market reference rates ( EURIBOR ). In the opinion of its publisher, the XDAX is a good pre- and post-trading indicator for the DAX development because it completely covers the trading hours of the USA . His calculation is "transparent, rule-based and easy to understand".

Since February 4, 2016, Deutsche Börse has also been offering the combined index XDAXDAX , which combines the DAX and XDAX in a time series. It is intended to show the performance of the DAX before, during and after Xetra trading hours.
