xFS (network file system)

xFS is a distributed and decentralized network file system from Berkeley University of California . This file system has been in development since 1993. The abbreviation stands for x F ile S ystem. Since the developers could not agree on a name for the file system, the letter x was used as a variable and can therefore be interpreted individually by everyone.
