Xenesis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Xenesis is the title of a novel by the Swiss author Beat Glogger . It is a made-up word made up of the two parts "xenos" (from the Greek for "foreign", see Greek prefixes ) and " Genesis " (the biblical story of creation). The resulting new meaning can be translated as “that which has arisen from outside”.

The novel is a science thriller that was published in 2004 by Rowohlt. In a fictitious scenario based on real facts, it deals with the so-called xenotransplantation , i.e. the transfer of animal organs to humans.

The book was awarded the Prix Media 2005 of the Swiss Academy of Sciences , and nominated for the Descartes Prize 2006 of the European Commission .
