Y-Luk-O is a German electro project founded in London in 1999 , which calls its music "industrial pop". The idea is to implement unusual song and sound structures away from the usual trends.

music

The band's music is characterized by a willingness to experiment with a wide variety of style elements and genres. Typical of the sound over the first three albums were tempo changes and multi-layered compositions with a complex structure. Voice samples and acoustic guitars were used and various styles of music such as flamenco , blues , nu metal were processed, so that the albums appeared very heterogeneous. With the 2008 album "Sin (n)" followed a reverse approach. Due to the restriction to only six synthesizer sounds and a separate drum sample kit typical of the band (“true industrial kit”), the variety of sounds was significantly restricted. Classical instruments such as violin , cello and piano were increasingly used for this. In addition, the theremin functioned as one of the classical electronic musical instruments as the main character.

history

The band was founded in 1999 by Yluko and Leonardo von Leibnitz in London. From 2003 to 2015 Siegfried Grampe was an integral part of the band. Y-Luk-O released their debut album Dead without you on the Frankfurt label Sonic-X in 2002 . A year later the second studio album followed with Kerion Celsi . It received remixes from artists such as Front 242 , In the Nursery, and Kirlian Camera . In 2003, Y-Luk-O went on tour in Germany with KiEw for the first time , during which the band presented their live performance to a broad audience using a multimedia show with video projections, a live e-drummer and guitarist. In line with the release of the album Kerion Celsi in the United States on Lukotyk Records' own label , a very successful US tour took place in November 2004. Y-Luk-O released their third studio album "Elektrizitätswerk" in April 2005 on Final Dusk Records in cooperation with their band's own American label Lukotyk Records. In the same year the EP Resistance appeared in connection with which the band achieved the breakthrough in the United States in the college and Internet radio stations. After a break until autumn 2006 and a production time of over a year, Y-Luk-O released the album Sin (n) in January 2008 . In 2016 the band produced their first videos Communion and Autark as part of the release of the EP Autark .
