Yamato Gunkei , or Yamato for short , is a domestic chicken breed bred in Central Japan . It is only used in small numbers worldwide. Yamatos are deep and wide fighting fowl with very scarce fletching. A walnut comb sits on the broad and fleshy head. The animals have a pronounced throat dewlap.
Yamatos grow only slowly and as pure ornamental chickens have no economic importance.
