Yarn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yarn is an Anglo-American literary sub-genre that can be compared with seaman's yarn , modern sagas and short stories . The sometimes outdated phrase about spinning yarn also belongs to this topic .

The yarn is usually a longer, rambling story that is pretended to have seen it firsthand or to know someone who did it, and it is traditionally told around the campfire in good company. Yarn is also understood to be a lengthy joke ; the yarn is potentially infinite as it is to be told through repetitions and connecting points in chain stories. One example is the story of the disappeared campers in the witch forest ( Blair Witch Project ) etc.
