Yaska

Yaska ( Sanskrit : यास्क Yāska , in German also written with J instead of Y ; approx. 7th century BC) was a grammarian of ancient India . The work ascribed to him is Nirukta , which is part of the Vedangas , a collection of auxiliary sciences for the interpretation of Vedic ritual texts. In this text Yaska deals mainly with questions of etymology .
