Yescapa (formerly JeLoueMonCampingCar) is a company for the rental of mobile homes and camper vans between private individuals. The company was founded in 2012 by Benoît Panel and Adrien Pinson and enables private individuals to rent out their leisure vehicles to other people outside of their own use.

As of March 2019, Yescapa is offering 6500 motorhomes and camping vehicles in France , Spain , Germany , Great Britain , Italy and Portugal . Yescapa was awarded in 2020 by the German Institute for Service Quality among the "Best Online Portals in Germany 2020" in the "Camper Sharing" category.

history

The company was founded in May 2012 under the name JeLoueMonCampingCar by Benoît Panel (President) and Adrien Pinson (Managing Director). The two founders met in October 2011 at the first Startup Weekend held in Brittany, during which the idea of ​​a service for renting camping vehicles between private individuals won third prize. The website of the same name was launched in cooperation with the insurance company MACIF.

The first investment for the company was made three years after it was founded in February 2015, and amounted to € 550,000.

In April 2015, Yescapa launched its service in Spain. The following year the company changed its name from JeLoueMonCampingCar to Yescapa in order to promote international development. Yescapa also launched its service with Yescapa.de in Germany, the leading European motorhome market.

In September 2016, Yescapa received € 3,000,000 from the MAIF Avenir investment fund for development at European level, which is intended for the start-ups of the MAIF Group.

In August 2018, Yescapa launched its service in Italy and Portugal .

In September 2018 the company diversified its activity with the creation of Yescapa Occasions, a platform for the sale of used recreational vehicles.

In March 2019, Yescapa announced the acquisition of a pioneering company in the rental of motorhomes between individuals.

In June 2019, the company announced the purchase of its Spanish competitor Areavan.

functionality

Motorhome or campervan owners create an advertisement on the website by indicating the model of their vehicle, availability and prices. They also publish interior and exterior photos of their vehicle. People who would like to travel with a rented motorhome or camper van specify their desired travel period, select their preferred vehicle - depending on the price and equipment - and contact the vehicle owner. The vehicle is then booked directly via online payment. On the day of departure, the vehicle owner and tenant meet to conclude the rental contract as well as to give instructions on the vehicle and hand over the keys.

Economic indicators

In the 2017/2018 period, Yescapa achieved sales of twelve million euros with a deduction of 12% for service fees. For 2016, sales can be estimated at around eight million euros, of which six million euros, i.e. 75% of the total amount, were distributed to the landlords.
