Weaving the ikat pattern

At the Yodgorlik Manufactory, silk goes through the entire production process from sorting the silkworm cocoons, cooking the cocoons, extracting the silk thread, spinning and dyeing the silk and finally weaving the colorful traditional Uzbek ikat pattern on traditional looms. As the Fergana Valley is also an important cotton producer, the Yodgorlik factory also makes a fabric from a mixture of cotton and silk called "adras".

Around 6,000 meters per month are produced in Yodgorlik . The main product, silk, makes up 60% of this, a silk-cotton mixture 25% and pure cotton 15%. Some of these products are processed into carpets in Yodgorlik. Today the silk manufactory also exports to other countries around the world, including Germany , South Korea , India , Iran and Russia .

tourism

All production is open to visitors, so tourists can experience traditional silk making in the region. Since silk production is one of the main attractions of Margilan, many visitors come to Yodgorlik every day.
