Meter connection column
A meter connection column (also known as an open-air column ) is a control cabinet embedded in the ground with an integrated electricity meter , usually as a network transfer point between energy supply companies and private energy distribution network. This is usually on the edge of the property. Meter connection pillars are mostly used where there is no building access for the energy supplier or where there is no building at all. An example of this would be e.g. B. Mobilfungsendeanlagen or photovoltaic systems on rented roofs to name.
When used as a network transfer point, it must meet the TAB (technical connection conditions) of the respective energy provider.
Advantages compared to a HAK ( house connection box ) with meter field:
- Meter reading possible without access to the building (e.g. necessary for a photovoltaic roof-top system that is managed by an operating company that has rented or leased the roof, but has no right of access to the property.)
- Network connection possible without building, e.g. B. in a free-standing photovoltaic system or wind farm
- With built-in power disconnection point ( fuse ), disconnection of the energy connection possible from the edge of the property; possibly required for reasons of fire protection.
