The Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur (ZHW) was a Swiss university of applied sciences in Winterthur . It was part of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZFH) and existed from 1998 to 2007. In 2007, its departments were transferred to the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

history

The ZHW emerged in 1998 from the merger of the Technikum Winterthur (Engineering School) (TWI) and the Higher Zurich Business and Administration School Winterthur (HWV). The founding rector of the ZHW was the natural scientist and industry manager Ernst Jörin .

Since the beginning of 2000, the Interpreting School Zurich (DOZ) and since 2006 the new University of Applied Sciences Health have been part of it.

The three predecessor schools of the ZHW look back on a traditional past:

  • The Technikum Winterthur, founded in 1874, is the oldest and largest technical center in Switzerland.
  • The HWV, founded in 1968 by the KV Zurich, was the first higher business and administration school in Switzerland. In 1996 she moved from Zurich to Winterthur to the Volkart trading house.
  • The Zurich Interpreting School Cooperative emerged in 1967 from a private school, the beginnings of which date back to 1946. In spring 2005, the former DOZ moved from its location in Zurich Oerlikon to Winterthur to the Mäander property at Theaterstrasse 15c.
