The zaghnal is an Indian battle hammer or battle ax .

description

The zaghnal has a pointed, double-edged, dagger-like blade. Depending on the version, the blade is straight or slightly curved and usually has a central ridge. The hammer surface on the opposite side of the blade of European battle axes is mostly replaced by decorative ornaments in the Zaghnal. The figure of an elephant or a building is often used as an ornament. The shaft is usually made of wood or steel . The Zaghnal is intended for use on foot or on horseback.
