Payday (action form)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Payday refers to a form of action of the unemployment movement in Germany that emerged against the background of the Hartz IV legislation . Unemployed people organize themselves here in common corridors to the offices so that they do not have to enforce their legal claims alone.

history

The form of action has been established since autumn 2004 from the protests against Hartz IV and the job centers, first in Cologne and then in some other cities. The starting point was the Monday demonstrations against Hartz IV , especially in eastern Germany, the formation of unemployment councils in Berlin and the “Agency closure” campaign. The first organized payday campaigns took place on October 1st and 2nd, 2007 in Cologne.
