Hard tooth substance is the common generic term in dentistry for tooth enamel , dentin (tooth bone) and root cement . Loss of dental hard tissue by direct common action of acid and / or abrasives in toothpastes is known in dentistry as erosion , is this due to friction it is called abrasion (abrasion).
