Zakhia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zakhia is a game where letters have to be formed into words. It was invented by Frédéric Zakhia (1908–1992), a Lebanese doctor, and first brought onto the market in 1982 in France by the CEJI publishing house. So far it only exists in a French and an Arabic version.

Zakhia is a game of letters, but also a game of knowledge. In contrast to Scrabble , for example , proper names are allowed here, which makes it easier to find words . The fields on the game board specify different topics for which words must then be found from the drawn letter pieces, for example for the categories "animals", "history" or "music", which are shown in fields framed in red. If you put a word from the corresponding topic, you get a multiplied number of points.

The same author also published "Zakhia, dictionnaire des mots croisés et du Scrabble" ("Zakhia, the dictionary for crossword puzzles and Scrabble") in 1973 in the French Rocher publishing house , which was reissued in 1982 and 1991.
