Hans-Joachim Knölker

Hans-Joachim Knölker (born July 29, 1958 in Rehren ) is a German chemist .

Life

Hans-Joachim Knölker completed his Abitur in 1977 at the Ernestinum Gymnasium in Rinteln and then served in the German Armed Forces for 15 months . In October 1978 he began studying chemistry at the University of Göttingen . He graduated from the University of Hanover in 1983 . Here he also did his doctorate in 1985 with Ekkehard Winterfeldt . He then spent a year doing research at the Department of Chemistry at the University of California , Berkeley , USA with Kurt Peter C. Vollhardt . In 1990 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hanover on the subject of "Transition Metal-Mediated Syntheses of Heterocycles". In the following year he was offered professorships at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , the University of Karlsruhe , the University of Bonn and the University of Marburg . In August 1991 he was appointed professor for organic chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe. He held this professorship until November 2001. During this time he had research stays in Japan and India . In 2000 and 2001 he was offered professorships at the TU Dresden , the University of Glasgow and the University of Oslo . In December 2001 he was appointed professor for organic chemistry at the TU Dresden. In 2003 he co-founded the biotech company Jado Technologies in Dresden. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society of Chemistry . Since 2007 he has also been a member of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

Hans-Joachim Knölker is married to Angela Knölker (née Schönwälder) and has four children with her.

Publications

Knölker has published more than 180 articles in scientific journals to date. He is one of the authors of the Organikum .
