Zbigniew Chlebowski (born March 8, 1964 in Żarów ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska (PO, Civic Platform ).

Life

Zbigniew Chlebowski is a graduate of the Wroclaw Agricultural College ( Akademia Rolnicza we Wrocławiu ). He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Poznan Economic Academy ( Akademia Ekonomiczna w Poznaniu ).

From 1990 to 2001 Chlebowski was mayor of his hometown Żarów. At the same time he was a council member and member of the Presidium of the Sejmik of the Wałbrzych Voivodeship from 1990 to 1998 . For his work he received the Bronze Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland . After the dissolution of the Wałbrzych Voivodeship, he became a councilor in the Sejmik of the new Lower Silesian Voivodeship . He was active in the commissions for regional policy and economy.

In 2001, Zbigniew Chlebowski moved into the Sejm for the first time as a member of the newly founded Platforma Obywatelska. He was also elected to the Sejm in the subsequent parliamentary elections, most recently in the 2007 election. In 2007 he was also elected chairman of the PO parliamentary group. On October 2, 2009, he was "temporarily suspended" from his position as parliamentary group leader because he is alleged to be involved in a corruption affair allegedly preventing the introduction of a gambling levy to finance the 2012 European Football Championship . Chlebowski is married and has a son and a daughter.
