Four small mines were operated in Witten under the name of Zeche Glückauf . Very little is known about these mines; these are the Glückauf, Glückauf 1, Glückauf 2 and Glückauf 3 mines.

Good luck for

The Glückauf colliery was also called the Glückauf 1 colliery, it had a tunnel and was located in Witten-Vormholz. The owner of the small mine, which was only in operation for 17 months, was Karl Hellmich. On December 1, 1954, the tunnel mine was put into operation. In the following year, five miners extracted 1,177 tons of hard coal . The colliery was shut down in April 1956, the successor operation was the Glückauf 3 colliery.

Glückauf 1

The Glückauf 1 colliery was located in Witten-Kämpen, on the eastern side of the Pleßbach, owned by Stefan Bartkowiak. Very little is reported about this small mine as it was only in operation temporarily. After 1950 the colliery went into operation for a short time, but there is no information about any funding and workforce figures.

Glückauf 2

The Glückauf 2 colliery was located in Witten-Herbede-West. The owner of this small mine was Karl Hellmich. The miners' registration took place around 1955. Presumably the mine was never put into operation.

Glückauf 3

The Glückauf 3 colliery was located in Witten-Durchholz, it was the successor to the Glückauf colliery, which was closed in 1956. The owner of this mine was Karl Hellmich. The colliery was in operation for almost eleven months and was commissioned in May 1956. In that year, three miners extracted 665 tons of hard coal. On April 15, 1957, the Glückauf 3 colliery was shut down.
