Molkenhaus (Wernigerode)

The whey house in the Harz low mountain range near Hasserode in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt is a half - timbered , former agricultural building and hunting lodge, which currently serves the administration of the Harz National Park .

Geographical location

The whey house is located in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony-Anhalt in the Harz National Park . It is located around 7 km southwest of the Wernigerode district of Hasserode between the Renneckenberg (approx.  933  m above sea  level ) in the west and the northeastern Hohe Wand ( 758  m ), on whose southeast flank the ear cliffs lie, at an altitude of around 675  m . The Holtemme rises just 2 km south of the building and flows through the Steinerne Renne about 4 km (as the crow flies ) east-northeast below the house .

history

The half-timbered building erected at the beginning of the 18th century by order of the Countess-Stolberg's chief hunter von Meseberg belonged to the Marienhof in Ilsenburg and was used for butter production and for hunting purposes. At the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813) it belonged to the canton of Ilsenburg . It is currently used by the administration of the Harz National Park.

Whey house star

About 550 m (as the crow flies) north-north-west of the Molkenhaus , a little southwest of the Hohe Wand on the city limits of Wernigerode and Ilsenburg, the Molkenhausstern ( 733  m ), a forest and hiking trail intersection , which can be reached last on the Molkenhauschaussee way from the Molkenhaus . The Forstmeister-Sietz-Weg , the Molkenhauschaussee , the Soldansweg and the Victor-von-Scheffel-Weg meet at the intersection. To from there controllable hiking destinations include loud one standing at the crossroads signpost (sorted alphabetically): Drei Annen Hohne , Hohneklippen , Ilse cases, Ilsenburg, Ilsestein , Ilsetal , Plessenburg , Schierke , Steinerne Renne , Wernigerode and Wolfsklippen .

The Molkenhausstern is included as no. 23 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin; the stamp box hangs in a shelter on site . 7.9 km (as the crow flies ) northwest in Lower Saxony is stamp number 169 - Molkenhaus .
