The Johann colliery in Hohenstein is a former small mine . This small mine was operated as a mine mine a few years after the Second World War. The colliery was initially owned by August Bölte, but the owner changed over the course of the operation.
Mining history
On August 1st, 1948, the Johann colliery went into operation. The promotion took place in the shaft Hohenstein. In the period from April 12 to August 2, 1950, the mine was out of order. On August 2nd of the same year, the owner of the mine changed to Putz & Bruckner. After the change of ownership, the mine was put back into operation on August 3rd of the same year. On May 20, 1952, operations were stopped again. On January 7th of the following year, the mine was put back into operation. In 1955 the Johann colliery was closed.
Promotion and workforce
The first workforce and production figures come from 1950, in that year nine miners were employed at the colliery, who produced 565 tons of hard coal. The maximum production was achieved in 1951, with eleven miners producing 2628 tons of hard coal. The last known workforce and production figures for the mine are from 1954, with three miners 555 tons of hard coal were mined.
