The Stüpert colliery is a former hard coal mine in what is now the Bergerhausen district of Essen . The mine was also known under the names Zeche Stüper , Zeche Stieper and Zeche Stupert . The Stüpert colliery was in operation as a tunnel mine with several interruptions for almost 100 years.

Mining history

In 1749 the abbess issued a courtesy certificate. In the same year the tunnel was dismantled. The mine continued to operate until the end of the 18th century. From 1799 the mine belonged to the artwork colliery , but it still remained in operation independently. In 1802 the mine was closed in time limits . The following year it was in operation again, after which the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents for several years. In the first half of 1834 dismantling took place again. On May 3rd of the same year the Stüpert colliery was shut down. The new award took place on January 21, 1841 . From the 3rd quarter of 1856 onwards, dismantling took place again for some time. On November 29, 1858, a contract was signed with the Zeche Artwork. With this contract, the water drainage of the Stüpert colliery was taken over by the artwork colliery. On February 15, 1859, the Stüpert colliery was finally shut down.
