The Wesselbank colliery is a former hard coal mine in Dortmund .
The Wesselbank colliery was located in what is now the Bittermark city forest on the northern slope of the Ardey Mountains . The coal seams occur here near the surface to day , so that mining in the tunnels degradation without complex technology early on was possible.
The mining relics in the Bittermärker Forest are entered as a ground monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .
