Character head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The drawing head is a component of drawing machines . It is used to guide the rulers on the drawing table, the "board".

Two rulers are detachably attached to the drawing head, horizontally a long one (50 cm for DIN A0 drawing machines) and vertically a shorter one (30 cm for DIN A0).

The drawing head is a complex component. It is used to attach rulers 90 degrees to each other and to set angles that deviate from the horizontal and vertical. The ruler angles can usually be clicked into place in 15 degree increments: the long ruler can be raised from the horizontal position (0 degrees) to 90 degrees or lowered to 90 degrees. In addition, the angle can be fixed in any angle position away from the notches with a clamping device. This free angular position is made adjustable to a tenth of a degree with an angle vernier .
