Time lock

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A time lock , also called time lock , is a locking device that is operated by mechanical or electrical clockworks . The time lock is usually installed on the inside of the vault or the safe door. When the door is locked, the locking device takes effect. When the door is opened again, it only enables access after the set blocking time has elapsed. This technology already existed in 1873.

This is to serve as a security measure against robberies in which the person normally authorized to open the door is forced to illegally surrender the key or to open the door directly. The time delay increases the risk of arrest for the perpetrator in the attack.
