ZEV has been published monthly since 1994. Since the 2000 year it has also been available online. It is regarded by experts as one of the leading journals in the fields of inheritance law and inheritance tax law.

The main topics are private and corporate asset succession in its legal and tax law facets. It combines in particular the areas of relevant civil law (especially inheritance and gift law ), company law and tax law (especially inheritance and gift tax law).
