The journal for medicine-ethics-law deals with topics from the intersections of its eponymous disciplines. The publisher of the magazine is meris e. V., which was founded as an alumni association of the Interdisciplinary Scientific Center Medicine - Ethics - Law (MER) of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . The magazine, which appears twice a year, has a circulation of 300 copies. The magazine is also available free of charge as an e-paper.

The journal was founded in 2009 and was initially called MERkblatt, with the first three capitalized letters standing for the disciplines of medicine, ethics and law.

Each issue of the journal deals with a different main topic from the fields of medical ethics law, which is viewed from an interdisciplinary perspective. So far, the magazine has dealt with the subjects of “vaccination”, “the future of the health system”, “communication and pastoral care”, “intersexuality”, “medical ethics in a cultural context”, “dementia” and “circumcision”.
