Newspaper for the elegant world
The newspaper for the elegant world was a literary-cultural magazine that appeared from 1801 to 1859.
The newspaper was founded on January 1st, 1801 by Johann Gottlieb Karlwalk in what was later to become the Leopold Voss publishing house in Leipzig. It was aimed at an upscale to elitist readership. The subjects of the magazine changed; In addition to literature, art and theater, topics such as clothing, room decoration and garden design were also dealt with. Political issues were expressly excluded at times. The newspaper initially appeared three times a week and from 1806 four times a week in two deliveries with changing supplements by different publishers and editors. The last edition appeared in 1859.
