Coordinates: 39 ° 0 ′ 40 ″ N , 125 ° 45 ′ 10 ″ E The Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (조선 민주주의 인민 공화국 중앙 은행) is the central bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea . It is based in the capital Pyongyang , in the Dong Otan-dong of the Chung-guyŏk district . It fulfills the typical tasks of a central bank.
history
The institute was founded on February 15, 1946. On December 6, 1947, the North Korean won was introduced . At the beginning of December 2009 a currency cut was carried out on the instructions of the government , the "new won" was exchanged for a short time at the rate of 100: 1. Families were allowed up to December 6, 2009 max. Exchange 100,000 won, amounts above that are only heavily devalued. Construction of the new main site began between October 6, 2010 and April 10, 2011, but construction work seems to have been interrupted at the moment.
There are more than 220 branches across the country.
