The Central Laboratory of German Pharmacists eV (ZL) based in the former pharmacist's house in Eschborn is supported by the pharmacists' chambers of the federal states. It is a supplement to the pharmacy laboratory and carries out tests that cannot be carried out in the individual pharmacies.

The organization, founded in 1971, also works on the drafting of pharmacopoeias , develops test regulations for the pharmacy laboratory and carries out comparative quality tests.

Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz is the scientific director. The ZL is integrated into the structures of the ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations .
