Zevonia Vieira
Maria Zevonia Fernandes Vieira is a journalist from East Timor . On February 8, 2020, Vieira succeeded David Hugo as President of the Associação de Jornalistas de Timor-Leste (AJTL). The legislative period runs until 2024. The AJTL is also represented in the national press council.
From 2008 to 2010 Vieira worked at UNMIT as an assistant for television productions. Since 2010 she has been Assistant Media Manager at Search for common ground Timor-Leste and since 2017 Editor-in-Chief of the East Timorese news portal Tafara.tl . Of UN Women , she was put on a list of five experts from Asia and Europe, as essential forces to combat COVID-19 pandemic are counted outside the authorities. Vieira urged the East Timorese government to set up a press center because of the health threat and to use social media to keep the population informed about the situation.
Vieira is single and has one son.
